Our services began in 1986 with the opening of our emergency shelter for women and children.  Since that time FRC has expanded its services to include all victims of violent and families in crisis.  Family Resource Center, Inc. provides the following services for sheltered and non-sheltered clients.


Intervention for Child Abuse Victims
  • Family Resource Center provides free of charge: counseling (including grief counseling for survivors of crime), court advocacy, emergency shelter and financial assistance to child victims of physical and sexual abuse and neglect. We also offer support groups for children who are impacted by domestic violence in their homes.
Intervention Counseling for Adult Victims of Crime
  • FRC provides free counseling for female, male and child victims of domestic violence and sexual violence including rape, assault and harassment.
Intervention Counseling for Adult Survivors of Crime
  • Individual and support group counseling for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Free Emergency Shelter for Female and Child Victims of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse
  • Family Resource Center’s Emergency Shelter presently has the capacity of 12 beds. Sheltered clients receive food, clothing, personal hygiene products, and a variety of other products at the shelter. They also have available to them a professional social worker who provides therapeutic counseling and advocacy. A support group is held at the shelter to help the residents heal from the abuse in their lives.
Advocacy
  • FRC’s counseling and advocacy staff will accompany victims or persons in crisis to social service agencies or other resources in the community where they may receive further assistance to help them heal and rebuild their lives.
Safe accommodation in Guest House/ Hotel
  • Available for extreme emergency situations and when no other shelter is available or all other shelters are deemed unsafe.
Referrals
  • Available to other community agencies that may offer additional assistance. These agencies include but are not limited to Dept. of Human Services, Bethlehem House, KIDSCOPE, Education Department, Methodist Outreach, Division of Mental Health, Roy L. Schneider Hospital, and Health Clinics.
Free Emergency Legal Advocacy
  • Assistance in obtaining restraining orders or protection orders, accompaniment to court hearings, criminal trials, and court representation.
Rental Assistance
  • When funds are available, Family Resource Center may provide one-time assistance to homeless shelter residents who are transitioning to independent housing and need assistance for the first month’s rent and/or security deposit, installation of electricity, or water. Individuals must show they can reasonably continue to pay rent independently once assistance is granted. Rental Assistance is also open to other non- sheltered individuals to help avoid eviction and homelessness.
Community Education/ Outreach Services
  • Available in the areas of Family Violence Prevention to include Domestic Violence, child abuse & rape prevention, and other violence to all Faith organizations, schools.
